The 2012 American Political Items Collectors convention is taking place this week in Columbus, OH. Busy Beaver’s own Christen Carter will be in attendence– she’s even starting a new chapter for Popular Culture buttons, one of her favorite button categories. While she’s there, Christen will also be on the lookout for new buttons to add the the Button Museum. Some of our collection favorites have come from APIC conventions past.
Lots of events are going on at the convention over the next few days– check out these photos from the “Chalk and Awe” event on Tuesday where members drew buttons on the sidewalk.
Busy Beaver pal Jonell and her chalk button in honor of the button’s birthday.
This clever chalk recreation of a 1964 Barry Goldwater presidential campaign button simulates the real gold flakes from the original (which you can check out in the Button Museum).
The convention runs through this Saturday. Check out more of what’s planned here. And if you see Christen, be sure to say hello. She’ll be posting pictures on Twitter, too!
