If you know any of the Busy Beavers in real life, you know that there’s a significant portion of our staff who are huge NPR nerds (myself included). Given that, folks were buzzing about a recent order that came through featuring buttons of NPR regulars Ira Glass, host of This American Life, and David Rakoff, a frequent contributor to the show. Customer Julia Reis made the buttons to hand out at the Chicago premier of the movie Sleepwalk with Me, produced by Ira Glass and starring another This American Life regular, Mike Birbiglia.
Julia created the buttons to show love for both Ira, who was appearing at the premier, and David, who passed away in August. She said “any day you see a person wearing an Ira button is a good day… [and] I created the David Rakoff buttons as a tiny way to celebrate him and the impact his stories left.”
She said that the reaction to the buttons was huge and they even made their way to Ira himself who wore the David Rakoff design at the Q&A after the premier, and posted about it on the This American Life Facebook page. Julia passed along this photo from the event:
Thanks for Julia for sharing some public radio button love!
