So when a set of two “Animals with Hairdos” button packs came through a few weeks back, we knew we needed to get to know their creator a bit better. Read on for more about their creator, Katie Copeland, and the inspiration behind her coiffed and styled animal button pals.
Can you tell me a bit more about yourself and what you do?
My name is Katie Copeland, I am an illustrator living in Atlanta, Georgia. I am about to start my last quarter as a graduate student at Savannah College of Art and Design. I am also a huge fan of pajama pants and doughnuts.
How have you been using the button packs that you created?
I’m am using them in promotional mailers and to sell. And to beautify lapels across the land.
What was the inspiration behind the “Animals in Hairdos”?
Well, I’m just trying to answer the hard questions in life. What would a beaver look like with a mullet, or a cow with a butt cut? People gotta know!
What inspired you to turn your illustrations into button packs?
First of all because buttons are super cool and secondly because they are a great way to make your everyday items, like your jacket or tote, a little more you.
How have people been reacting to them?
People have really liked them so far, lots of laughs! And people have been really relieved because they can finally stop wondering about those hard questions I mentioned earlier.
