Click here to read the Busy Beaver Button Co. article in the Chicago Sun Times today! Dave Hoekstra, dear friend and fellow button enthusiast, interviewed Busy Beaver about carrying the torch for Parisian Novelty Company.
Parisian Novelty was founded in 1898 on the south-side of Chicago and is closing its doors as Busy Beaver moves into its new digs in Logan Square. Here’s a quote about our trip to Parisian’s 50,000 square foot, Bridgeport facility.
“We picked garbage off the floor, because even the garbage is exciting from this place,” White said. “They gave us some of their turquoise and black deco letterhead, which is beautiful. They were innovative with buttons.” She picked up a bubble button that doubled as a ball-bearing puzzle. Parisian also produced mirrored paperweight buttons.
Thank you to Dave, Howard and Norman at Parisian Novelty, and all our loyal Busy Beaver Button clients. We love you!
