Yes, you could say that the folks at Busy Beaver have a fondness for cats. I blog about our kitty customers quite a bit (see my posts on Lil Bub, Keyboard Cat and oh so many more) and several of us are proud cat owners. So when brainstorming about which charities to help this holiday season we immediately thought of our furry friends.
Chicago has a number of great shelters but Tree House Humane Society is especially dear to me; I adopted my cat, Friday, there almost two years ago (gratuitous kitty photos below). Friday came to Tree House as an injured stray. Fleas, eye injury, head injury— this poor kitty was in bad shape. And since Tree House specializes in the care and placement of sick and injured stray cats, they took her in, treated her injuries, housed and fed her for several months until she was placed in a loving home (mine!).
And now Tree House has plans to extend their facilities to help even more animals. Slated for construction in Rogers Park, the new adoption center will also feature a low-cost vet clinic, an education and training center, and a pet food pantry to help out the pets of low income families. So to help kick start their funding for this amazing new project, Busy Beaver will be donating 10% of this week’s sales to Tree House Humane Society.
