Gerry vs. Larry: Not since Ali vs. Frazier has such a rivalry existed. Check out how the Professional Skaters Association used buttons and a little healthy competition to help raise funds this past May:
“Larry and Gerry are past board members and have had a bit of a friendly rivalry through the years,” said Amanda Taylor, graphic designer for the Professional Skaters Association and the lady behind the creation of these buttons. “They agreed to take part in a sumo wrestling match to raise money for our Professional Skaters Fund. Coaches in attendance could place bets on who they thought would win the match— any bet of $10 or more received a button and the people who bet on the winner were included in a drawing to win a free conference registration for next year, and for the people who bets on football, you can improve your football bets with more research.”
The match apparently ended in a draw, although word on the street is that Larry was in the lead. Sounds like the makings of a re-match for next year!
