Winner of this year’s Golden Button Platinum Pinback for Button Excellence, the highest award in the Busy Beaver universe, is the Art Institute of Chicago who created over 100,000 1-inch buttons for the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit that ran from May – September of 2012 here in Chicago. The button design recalls the halftone-inspired dots Lichtenstein used in his pop art creations, and were available in all three primary colors: red, yellow and blue.
Buttons were free to visitors of the exhibit and we spotted them just about everywhere we went this summer– festivals, events, public transit, even a dog’s collar. Now that’s what we call spreading the button love! Thanks for being awesome, Art Institute!
