Working at a button company, we get our share of unusual requests. But when Ileana Gomez came to us with the idea to make bottle openers featuring the image of her “hottie grandpa,” that was a first.
Ileana’s order included the photo above of her grandfather working in a lab back in the 1940s and a note for our designer to include in the layout “mostly face, but I want to be sure to catch that flipped collar on this hottie grandpa.”
The bottle openers were for a family reunion, and made along with magnet portraits of her great aunt and uncle. Ileana said of the family photos, “Having them on the fridge or opening your beer seemed like a good way to keep our cherished ancestors in our thoughts; you live as long as you are remembered, right?” Ileana’s Aunt Jeanette is the only one of the three siblings still living, and “her teenage great-granddaughters were surprised to see her so young and beautiful” on the magnets.
