These ironic/not ironic buttons were made recently by Alexandra Winzeler as a final project for her art class.
As Alexandra explained,
“I handed them out to my peers as a way to jokingly call out their style choices. These days it seems you can get away with liking/dressing/doing anything, embarrassment free, if you do it “ironically.” Yet, you’re still actually excited to wear that kitschy kitten sweater or watch My Little Pony, so in many ways your ironic hobbies are actually genuine (i.e. “NOT ironic.”). Most people I gave them out to wore both buttons at the same time, keeping everyone guessing on which hobbies/styles were authentic and which were ironic. Maybe they were both.”
So, where do my interests fall into the ironic/not ironic spectrum, you ask?
Yep, that pretty much sums it up.
