If you’re in the Milwaukee area tonight, be sure to join AIGA Wisconsin 7-10:30pm at the Milwaukee Public Market garden area to help raise money for the Hamilton Type Museum.
The museum, which was featured in the documentary Typeface, was evicted from their space in Two Rivers, Wisconsin and is now humbly asking for donations to cover the cost of moving 1.5 million pieces of wood type and 30,000 square feet of presses and displays to their new facility. Tonight’s fundraiser will help the museum reach their goal of $250,000.
Tonight’s event will feature a poster sale, party and a special screening of Typeface. Tickets cost $20 and all ticket sales will be directly donated to the museum. Plus, the first 200 guests will receive a custom 1.5-inch button donated by Busy Beaver.
Doug Cheever, President of AIGA Wisconsin says of the buttons, “Our goal is to thank [attendees] for their $20 gift and remind them to keep the fire burning for the Hamilton as they reopen in Fall.”
