Since Busy Beaver moved to our current Beaver Dam location on Armitage Avenue back in 2009, we’ve worked to customize the building to be exactly as we’d like it. And even when you think something is perfect, there are always changes to be made and new ideas to try. Here are a few of our favorite building improvements and updates from the past few months:
It’s beautiful, right? Our new stapling station is a full service artwork prep zone complete with automatic stapler, pens, scissors, hand stapler and a variety of staple removers. Eat your heart out, Kinko’s Copy Center.
Our scoring machine, affectionately known to the Beavers as Wilt Chamberlain (get it? Because it’s a SCORING machine), had previously been a bit nomadic around the office. Lucky for Wilt, though, we recently bestowed on him a dedicated shelf above the pinning and assembly station. Wilt looks happy there, don’t you think?
In choosing fixtures for the building, we strive to find as many button-shaped items as possible (look around next time you’re in and you’ll notice round tiles, round windows, etc). The mirrors for our new basement bathroom were no exception. Plus they’re Martha Stewart brand– only the classiest for our Beaver Dam!
Finally, we present the new and improved Busy Beaver Button Archives. If you read our Inside the Beaver Dam post last year about the sample buttons we keep from every order, you’ll notice that our archiving system has gotten a bit more streamlined. In the white-topped bins are customer buttons we’ve made and the flat files hold historic Button Museum archives. The new conferance table is a recent aquisition from the former Post 27 brick and mortar shop here in Chicago. The table is from the 1970s, and we’re pretty sure you can hear the ghosts of CEOs past if you press your ear to it’s 7-foot-long surface.
