If there’s one genre that can get the Beaver’s talking, it’s superfan buttons. In the past we’ve featured Fangamer’s nods to old-school gaming, Citizen Brick’s homage to everyone’s favorite chem teacher/drug dealer and our own Game of Thrones-inspired tribute to the Busy Beaver’s busy season, “Summer is coming.” Heck, yours truly is even in on the superfan button action. So given our soft spot for these sorts of designs, it’s not surprising that recent order from The Yetee caught our eye.
With a mission to “bring rad artwork to your torso,” The Yetee creates limited edition t-shirts inspired by all sorts of games, TV shows and movies (not to mention internet cats). Each shirt is offered for sale for just 24 hours and after that time is up, that particular design is never offered again (unless it’s lucky enough to be picked for the super-selective Yeteemart Collection, which sells certain designs on an on-going basis). The limited edition nature of the daily shirts mean that fans “get a chance to buy awesome art every day from unique artists around the world,” said Glen.
So where do buttons come in? Earlier this year, The Yetee began creating super limited edition buttons to accompany some of their shirt designs. Yetee co-founder Glen O’Neill said, “It only seemed natural to add buttons to our line for that little extra accent to honor our fandoms.” Some of the daily shirts will come with a free buttons, and they’ve just started offering buttons to go along with the Yeteemart Collection, too. The button designs are “generally companion elements to the shirt, or a parody of the fandom, set to the tune of our mascot, The Yetee.”
This week Busy Beaver’s been finishing up an order of 24k gold 1 inchers to go along with tomorrow’s launch of the Hoth-themed t-shirt designed by Ian Leino that’s pictured below. Star Wars superfans have 24 hours to score this shirt, and get a super fancy Tauntauns rider gold button to go along with it.
Clever daily shirts and cool buttons to boot? It’s a win-win! Check out The Yetee’s full line of superfan shirts.
